Sacred Watering Holes – lyrics
Number thirty-six for takeoff
And the aircraft won’t get cool
Passengers are all complaining
They’re calling me Captain Cruel
Only three more legs to fly today
Before reaching some random hotel
But somewhere in whatever city
There’s a place I know they sell
A frosty adult beverage
With my name on it
And I can’t wait to buy a couple
For myself and my copilot
Every city that we fly to
Has a special place
Known to every flight crew
As our office space
The Office is our home-away
Picked long ago by our mentors
Some sacred watering hole
With late-night food and beers
Another day
Another five flights
With challenging approaches
Down to the runway lights
Dodging thunderstorms
In an unfriendly sky
And calming passengers
Who are afraid to fly
Avoiding mountains
And high terrain
While navigating
through torrential rain
And mechanical problems
With the plane
There’s one thing
That keeps me sane
Every city that we fly to
Has a special place
Known to every flight crew
As our office space
The Office is our home away
Picked long ago by our mentors
Some sacred watering hole
With late-night food and beers
